For many, fall means it's time to start cleaning and winterizing, and getting the RV ready for hibernation. For others, fall and winter are still great times to take the RV out on a road trip. Either way, now can be a great time to take care of small projects. Oftentimes the most common things can become forgotten or overlooked. You may have an improvement or upgrade in mind, or maybe there's a part you've been meaning to replace. Whether you are getting ready to put your RV into storage, or if you wish to spruce it up before a fall or winter road trip, here are a few RV parts and accessories to think about.
Lighting - Do your light bulbs or light fixtures need replacing? Maybe you are thinking about updating the look of your RV's interior. There is a wide variety of indoor and outdoor light fixtures to meet those needs, as well as a number of replacement light bulbs. The selection of interior lighting choices has recently expanded with the addition of fixtures from ITC. These include reading lamps, wall mounted lights, and overhead/dinette lights. Outdoor lights can provide ambience as well as security. If you wish to modernize your light fixtures further, using LED bulbs is a great option. LEDs have long lifespans, and are known to be energy efficient.
Hardware - If you need to replace any broken hinges, or latches that came loose on your adventures, you can do that easily too. You may also wish to check on hardware such as door handles, curtain rods, vent covers, and cabinet parts. Using the downtime during the off-season allows you to make these small improvements that you may not have had time for during the busy camping season.
Bedding - If it has been a long time since you last replaced your RV's bedding or mattress, you may want to think about getting a new bedding set. RV beds are not the same standard sizes as the ones found in houses, often having different dimensions. For example, a standard King is not the same as an RV King. Denver Mattress and Mattress Safe offer mattresses and bedding sets that will fit the different sizes of RV beds. With the change of season comes the need for heavier sheets & blankets as the colder weather arrives. RV Superbag has sheet sets in several colors that feature a lighter summer side and a heavier winter side with more insulation.
Appliances and Electronics - Now is the time to repair or replace anything that is no longer functioning properly. You don't want to arrive at your first campsite next year with the broken stereo speakers you forgot to fix, or the microwave oven that's seen better days. Likewise if you plan on taking the RV out over the winter, you'll want to make sure appliances such as furnaces, heaters, and water heaters are in good working order.
Taking care of the little things now will save you a lot of time in the future, and will help extend the life of your RV. Please don't hesitate to
