Description Instructions

The ShorePower Generator Auto Start is a compact controller that monitors shore power and will auto-start your motorhome, RV or 5th wheel gas/propane generator when a power outage occurs due to unforeseen circumstances. ShorePower Guard constantly monitors shorepower and any power loss will enable your generator start function. When shore power is restored the ShorePower Guard will disable and shut down generator. Emergency generator start is a must have for pet owners or RV'ers who have valuables that are heat sensitive.
  • Monitors shore power right from the source, NOT via the inverter panel.
  • No need to modify your inverter panel, no complicated wiring, simple for you or your dealer to install.
  • Compact design, built to last.
  • Works with gas and propane generators that feature a remote control panel (see diesel version here)
  • Can be installed on 30 or 50 Amp RV's
  • Unit is prewired with 10" leads that are marked with function.
  • Requires an On/Off switch, additional wire, wire ties, electrical tape and splice connections to complete installation.
  • Note: knowledge of electrical wiring is required to install this product since each generator and RV setup is different. There are currently limited installation instructions but this Wiring Schematic details the wiring process.

Additional Product Information

ShorePower Guard comes pre-wired with identification labels on the wires, making installation easier. Most Onan RV generators utilize either an 8 or 10 pin connector for the remote control panel. The pins are marked alphabetically A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H for 8 pin and added J & K for the 10 pin connector. The following pins identify the function.

For the 10 pin connector
A = Ground
C = Start
E = Stop
F = Run Indication
For the 8 pin connector
A = Ground
B = Stop
C = Start
E = Run Indication

ShorePower Guard utilizes 2 power sources
  1. The controller uses 12v DC house battery power
  2. ShorePower monitor uses 110 vAC shore power
Operation: Once the system has been installed, to activate ShorePower Guard you would turn the enable switch (12vDC switch not supplied) to the on position. Upon loss of power the will make 2 attempts to start the generator, with a 3 minute delay between attempts. The enable switch resets the system.
