I just bought the 99242 and noticed in the instructions that I'm not supposed to start the towed vehicle if the tow wire is connected. 1. What happens if I do? 2. Doesn't the diode prevent any interaction between the towed vehicle and the motorhome? See more »

It will not have any effect on the electrical at all and you could start the car with the unit on. As long as it is installed correctly Assuming the tow wiring was done properly there will not be any issues. You do not want to actually Tow with the car running. The system is not designed to work with a soft pedal.

The 99249 is the second car kit for the 99242, for if you have a second car that you need the set up.

According to SMI, The Delta Force system can be installed on a 2017 Wrangler. The wranglers in the past had a hump in the floor board just in front of the drivers seat. If the 2017 is the same, The Delta will need a standoff bracket (part number 99677). This bracket will reposition the Delta Force to sit in front of such a hump.

how will this system work? See more »

This system is air actuated with an exclusive ball & socket design for compact storage. Braking force is delivered by a decelorometer. We actually are in the dark on a few aspects of this braking system still awaiting answers. We have them on order and will be performing testing and reviews the minute we get them in. We are familiar with SMI's other systems and as good as they are, expect this will be the same. Here is a very early video done on a prototype --> http://youtu.be/qE6Iword4hY

does this work with a break a way system. how does it apply the brakes? when you step on the coach brakes what does it do? See more »
9 years ago
The Delta Force will come with a break-a-way system. The unit does not integrate with your coach brakes, so it will not activate just by applying the brakes. It works on inertia and as it senses the coach stopping will apply the brakes on the toad proportionally, depending on the sensitivity setting you select.

I understand the cable is adjusted during the initial installation and it hooks to the Delta Force when in use, how is the cable stored when not in use.Can it be removed and reinstalled with out setting it up again? See more »
8 years ago
According to the manufacturer, the cable can stay on the firewall when not using. We recommend tucking underneath the carpet when not in use. This would be the easiest way to store it when you are not traveling.

The Delta Force system does include a charge wire kit and it does include the breakaway connection. The breakaway switch is connected to the front of the car and the wire plugs directly into the Delta Force Unit.
