Permatex Metal Fuel Tank Repair Kit
How To Install:1. Remove gas cap to vent tank. Make sure there is adequate ventilation.
2. If the leak is large, drain the tank or reduce the liquid level to at least 2 inches below the damaged area. 3. Prepare damaged area by removing any oil, grease, tar or dirt, etc. from repair area. 4. Sand the affected area to at least 1 inch beyond the damage. Clean area with an alcohol swab. 5. Break off the appropriate size piece of putty and place it over the leak. 6. Cut the fiberglass cloth to fit within the sanded area. 7. The resin must be mixed and applied in less than 8 minutes as the resin will begin to harden. Mix the resin as follows: Burst the seam that separates the two materials by applying pressure to one side. Knead the contents of the pouch back and forth until the mixture is of uniform color (mix for 2 minutes maximum). 8. Cut off the top of the pouch and dispense some of the resin mixture onto the damaged area. 9. Spread the resin mixture in a uniform layer with the supplied brush onto the area to be covered by the fiberglass. (Note: The material will become warm to touch.) 10. Place the fiberglass over the resin-covered area. Spread the remaining mixture over the fiberglass until it is completely saturated. 11. Taper the edges of the repair area beyond the fiberglass. Smooth the repaired area with the brush.
The repair will be complete when the resin cures in 30 minutes. The tank may be refilled after 30 minutes or when the repair is tack-free.
