Cleaning your cast iron cookware in 3 easy steps:
Step 1: Wash
Wash the cast iron pot or pan by hand. A small amount of soap may be used. A pan scraper may be used for stuck food. For stubborn, stuck food, let water simmer in the pan for about 3-5 minutes, then use a scraper.
Step 2: Dry
Once your cast iron cookware is cleaned, dry immediately and thoroughly with a cloth or paper towel. If you find any black residue on your towel, that is just seasoning.
Step 3: Oil
Apply a light layer of cooking oil or seasoning spray to the surface of your cast iron pan, then use a paper towel to wipe off the surface until there is no remaining oil residue.
