When choosing an RV air conditioner, cooling capacity measured in BTUs (British Thermal Units) is a critical specification. The higher the BTU rating, the more powerful the cooling. Common RV air conditioners range from 13,500 to 15,000 BTUs. A higher BTU rating, such as the 15,000 BTU found in the Coleman Mach 15 Plus and the Advent Air ASAACM150SP, provides robust cooling for larger RVs or hotter climates. For moderate needs, a 13,500 BTU unit like the Gree RVA-135R OD can be sufficient. With a variety of BTU options, you can find a model that fits your specific cooling requirements.

Airflow strength, measured in cubic feet per minute (CFM), determines how quickly and effectively an RV air conditioner can circulate cool air throughout the vehicle. Higher CFM ratings ensure faster cooling and better air distribution. For example, the Coleman Mach 15 Plus boasts an impressive 320 CFM, making it ideal for larger RVs or those with ducted systems. High airflow ensures comfort in all corners of the RV, and many models offer adjustable fan speeds to customize airflow to your needs.

Thermostat controls enhance user convenience and comfort by allowing precise temperature regulation. Digital thermostats, like the Micro-Air EasyTouch RV Thermostats, offer easy-to-use interfaces, wifi and bluetooth along with accurate temperature settings. Some models include remote controls for added flexibility. Advanced thermostats enable features like programmable settings and auto modes, optimizing energy use and comfort. With various thermostat options available, you can find one that suits your preferences and enhances your RV cooling experience.

Efficiency in RV air conditioners impacts energy consumption and operational costs. Efficient units consume less power, making them ideal for extended use or boondocking. Look for units with eco-friendly refrigerants like R410A, which is standard in models like the Coleman Mach 15 Plus and Advent Air ASAACM150SP. High-efficiency models reduce strain on your RV's electrical system and provide effective cooling with lower energy use.

Ensuring compatibility with your RV model or series is crucial for seamless installation and optimal performance. Some air conditioners are designed to fit standard 14" x 14" vent openings, making them versatile. The Coleman Mach 15 Plus and Advent Air ASAACM135 are compatible with a wide range of RVs. Compatibility ensures that the unit will fit correctly and function as intended, providing efficient cooling without the need for extensive modifications.
